WHAT IS A FOOT CARE NURSE PROVIDER?

A Foot Care Nurse is a professional who has obtained additional, specialized training in care and treatment of routine foot care issues by way of an accredited educational program such as the American Foot Care Nurses Association.  Nurses who achieve certification commit to a national standard of professional competency that demonstrates their understanding of basic and advanced care in the specialty area of foot care nursing practice.  A foot care nurse does not replace a podiatrist or MD but, works collaboratively to maintain best practice and procedures for our mutual client.  During routine foot care, the nurse may reduce nail length & thickness, reduce or remove corns and calluses, remove the ingrown part of a nail, offer support with preventative skin care techniques, assist with foot hygiene & moisturization to promote skin integrity and offer a foot massage to enhance circulation.
